Welcome to Teakettle Press

Great art is never out-of-date!

Even though 2007 has already kicked in, it's not really too late to treat yourself or a friend to a perfect, functional and beautiful gift whose purchase benefits at-risk Native youth.

"Through a Musician's Eyes" is a 2007 calendar (at left) featuring a collection of intriguing and eclectic works by nine Canadians who are known for their connection to the folk/roots music world. A few contribute mostly to their local music scenes, while others are touring performers with many recordings to their credit. All are gifted artists,  expressing their creativity in a variety of ways:  painting in acrylic and watercolour, modeling, enameling, linocutting, photography, quilting and woodworking. All are kind enough to share their visions. Here, we can truly see "through a musician’s eyes.”   More here…

"Through A Musician’s Eyes calendar is a feast for the eyes, from people most associated  with art that is a feast for the ears. The art work on this calendar is a shining example of how visual arts and music are intrinsically linked. Fabulous paintings, prints and a quilt by some great Canadian artist/musicians with a wide variety of styles and techniques all on a good sized calendar for keeping track of your life!" Caitlin Hanford
"…a beautiful, colourful and vibrant calendar – a piece of art in itself, supporting the important and essential organization, ArtsCan Circle." Suzie Vinnick

A celebration of giving

We had a wonderful evening last night (December 21) at the ArtsCan Circle 2007 Calendar Winter Solstice Benefit Concert, called the Celebration of Giving. Performers included David Woodhead, Catherine Crowe, The Smith Brothers, Carol Teal and Dave Joyce, and a trio consisting of Janet Buchanan, Jayne Mitchell and Tricia Hurst, with backups by Ian Gray and Jeff Morrison. It was a sold-out feast for the ears (and the food was good too!). Many thanks to Tricia for imagining and organizing this wonderful event!
